Andrea // Maternity // Anchorage, Alaska

I regularly travel up to Anchorage to do photo shoots and Andrea was a bridesmaid of a bride Shannon whose wedding I photographed a couple years ago. So it was really fun meeting up with her and her growing belly, husband Ian and son Konnor. We spent part of the afternoon in some beautiful gardens up in Anchorage capturing this special time of their lives. Here are just some of my favorites from the session.

My Belly Photos // Kauai, Hawaii

I'm totally the photographer who is always emphasizing the importance on capturing moments and documenting life. I love being apart of babies first photos, the every year christmas portrait session, 1 year birthday photos, the wedding day. So even though I talk the talk about how important it is to not let these times slip by uncaptured, I've never had too many of these moments myself until the past year. Getting married was my first big one and even though we ended up eloping, we still have a few photos taken and I cherish those photos. When Patrick and I were in Kauai, Hawaii for our very late honeymoon I thought what a fun place to have my maternity photos taken and I have to say I absolutely will always cherish these photos. This first glimpse into this gigantic step Patrick and I are about to take into becoming parents to who I know will be an amazing little boy. Having these maternity pictures definitely showed me even more how truly important it is to document these special times in life and I am so thankful.

Naomi of Naomi Wong Photography did such a stellar job at not only making Patrick and I feel comfortable behind the camera but making the experience of having these photos taken special. I loved it. So here are just a small handful of some of my favorites from the day we spent with Naomi. Thank you Naomi!

Matt, Naomi & Olivia // Family Session // <3

I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Naomi and her husband Matt and daughter Olivia. I contacted Naomi who is an amazing photographer that lives on Kauai, HI about doing my maternity photos while Patrick and I were on vacation there. In turn she asked me if I would photograph her family which was super exciting and fun for me because I love shooting in new locations! We went to the Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens to do their photos and the experience of being the gardens alone was incredible! What a beautiful place! Below are just a few of the shots I captured during our time in the garden.

Naomi did a beautiful job on my maternity photos and captured such a special time for Patrick and I! I will be uploading those in another blog soon! To see some of Naomi's work go to Naomi Wong Photography

Toews // Family // <3

I made a recent trip up to Anchorage to photograph a few different families and I was so excited that Kathryn's family was one of them because I've been wanting to work with her for a while. We walked around downtown Anchorage finding fun spots to shoot. Kathryn has taste very similar to mine so I loved brainstorming with her. Almost every time I was about to say, oh this would be a cool shooting spot she'd beat me too it and already be thinking of ideas she liked! It was awesome! Towards the end of the shoot she let her son Jackson at a lollipop which was the best! He was like mmm....MMMMM!!! haha, and it was a fun time to capture. Thanks again Kathryn! Your family was so much fun! And thanks to Kathryn's mom and brother who were awesome assitants for the shoot. :)

Kathryn has an awesome handmade stationary business called The Chocolate Lily. She specializes in wedding save-the-dates, wedding invites, baby announcements, party invites and much more! You can see her work and become a fan on facebook HERE

Featured on {Matthew R Photo}

So I totally had a WHO? ME?!? moment when the amazingly talented Matthew of Matthew R Photo of Tampa, Florida contacted me a few weeks ago to be featured on his journey through each state called 50/50 Photographers. His search was in giving recognition(what a nice guy!)each week on his blog to what he considered to be one of the top photographers for each state. And he picked me!! Here I go again...{blush blush}. Thank you to Brandon of Foto Vitae in Portland, Oregon who also does beautiful work who recommended me to Matthew for this feature. I felt so honored and excited as Matthew is a great photographer and has so much life in his photography. It's really a cool thing to have such awesome support from other photographers, especially ones who are literally the opposite side of the states as you! So check out the blog feature and and the QA section. I also encourage you to follow Matthew on his journey each week through the 50/50 if you are an aspiring photographer because I know you're going to learn alot from each of the great photographers he features. Calling all BRIDES!!!

Ladies! Ladies! I'm putting out ummm...a casting call? I think that's what they are called! I need 3-4 girls/brides to get back in their wedding dresses! That's right! Pull that baby out of the back of your closest and try her on!! I am looking to do a multiple bridal shoot! If you are interested read what I'm looking for below and e-mail only if your serious! And tell your friends! Thanks!

(THE PHOTOS INCLUDED ARE ONLY TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF THE KIND OF SHOOT I'M AFTER. I DID NOT TAKE THESE PICTURES. :)

1. Try that baby on! I'm looking for ladies that know they can still fit(or squeeze) back into that dress. Don't show up the day of the shoot trying it on for the first time only to realize that all the home made cooking is just not cutting you any slack. Just being real. :)

2. I'm looking for all shapes and sizes...short, tall, skinny, curvy...bring it on ladies! We are all beautiful in our own unique ways and I want to showcase it!

3. You absolutely don't need any previous experience...just because you may not feel like you're not the model type, doesn't mean you don't take amazingly GORGEOUS pictures!

4. Makeup! You gotta wear it! Whether you are a plane jane when it comes to makeup or your a MAC lover, makeup makes a HUGE difference in photos so be willing to triple coat your mascara! And wear hairspray too!

5. I don't know where my location is but I'm scouting it out. One of the spots I'm looking at is 30 minutes from Homer and is a good 15 minute hike but it'll be worth it. Be ready for an adventure!

6. The actual shooting time will probably not last much more than an hour. Once you're all made up and ready to go, I'm a fast shooter and know exactly what I want and I get her done!

7. You gotta sign a model release before the shoot. Yep, that's right. Your face is gonna be plastered all over my office walls, website and facebook so you need to be okay with that!

8. Contact me at jai_photography@yahoo.com if you are serious about doing this. It will hopefully take place sometime this summer and I will give plenty of notice so you can have you hubby watch those cute little children you've had, or request time off work. Also if you can send a pic of you in your wedding dress from your wedding or your dress hanging in your closet. I am trying to somewhat match certain styles of wedding dresses.

{What I will provide}

1. I will hire someone to do your makeup. If you're like me and don't want anyone getting within five feet of your face with a eyeliner stick and would like to do your own makeup then just talk to me and we can work something out. Hair...is gonna be mostly down or half up, some ladies I'll have wear it straight and others will wear it wild sexy and curly. Bottomline, it'll be easy to do so feel free to do your own hair or I can do it for you as I'm not looking for the typical bridal up-do.

2. Transportation farther than 20-30 minutes out of Homer. What are moms for...thats right...their big ol Land Cruisers so I'll be snagging moms keys......hope that's okay Mama! :)

3. I initially want to capture 3-4 brides together in their dresses in a more fashion oriented way, however I will also happily take individual shots of you just so you can have em. Why not right? :)

4.I will give each beautiful bride a disc of all their images and will happily give them a 5 sheet package from my photo collection which is a $135 value

5. Bouquets(I totally just googled that word for spelling...shhh.) I will either have little mini bouquets made or I will make them myself. I'll think it'll add a fun little somethin, somethin to the photos.

6. FOOD! I'm not promising a 5 course meal, but I will have some yummy snacks on hand to keep everyone smiling...really I'm just talking about myself! :

7. My full enthusiam and LOVE for what I do to get you the best shots that Jaime Clapp Photography can provide.

P.S. If I don't respond right away its not because I don't think your model material, it's just because I am shooting consistenly throughout the week and doing weddings every weekend so I am one busy woman...but I will get back to you asap and love and appreciate everyone you responds! Thanks ladies!!

REASONS to do this shoot: Ummm...heck! It's fun!! You get to get back in your super expensive $$$ dress you've never thought you'd wear again AND free pictures! :)

Happy Birthday Little Brother!

I'd say Happy Birthday little brother, but the past 5 years Kyle decided to take on the role of BIG brother...even tell me to call him that. He was of course 6 inches taller than me, solid as a rock and could pin me down in a wrestling match in two seconds and get me back for all those years he was 2 inches thick and I tickled him until he laughed so hard he almost peed his pants. Yes, I deserve it but luckily my brother Kyle has grown up to be such a great guy. He's as nice as they come and always calls to see how I'm doing and to tell me he loves me. I have been truly blessed to grow up with Kyle.
Growing up consisted of simplicity and even though we didn't become super close friends until highschool we always had so much fun playing with eachother and our friends. Many summer nights were spent out roaming Cottonwood Lane building forts, playing kick the can, have all out wars with all the neighborhood kids...our weapons of course being pinecones, pushky and fireweed spears.
Kyle, you are such an amazing brother and a great friend. Life is the best with you and I'm so proud of where you come and where you're going. Happy 21st Birthday. Behave yourself!

Love Your "Little" Big Sister,

Jaime

The Photographer gets Married! <3

{How we met:} Welcome to my new blog! I thought...what not a better way to start off my new blog, but my with our wedding day photos! Patrick and I met October of 2008. Patrick was in his second year of Alaska Bible Institute and I had just got my new photography office going. Let's see how it all started....(smile on my face).....It was the first service ever of Church on the Rock Homer. After the service I started wandering around meeting new people and catching up with old friends. I was in a circle of friends talking and beautiful Brooke called Patrick over to introduce us....my heart literally started thumping...loudy!
I'm pretty sure everyone in the whole gym could hear it. Who is this incredibly gorgeous guy? Hello, um.....where have you been all my life? Brooke introduced us and I could barely get a word out but all I knew that there was something different about this guy...something that I had always wanted but never found and he struck me and WOWED me and....sigh....more than anything I could see the love of God in him. I could literally see this pure love and light pouring out of him for people. The way he smiled, the way he talked to people surrounding him...this guy was different. Right after I met Patrick I walked up to my mom and pulled her out of the conversation she was engaged in....because this just couldn't wait! Mom! Do you see that guy!?! How do I get a guy like that? That right there is future husband material! Holy WOW! Patrick and I didn't talk again until April of 2009. He was one of the greeters at our church and the walk down the extremly......llloooonnnggg....hallway each sunday with him looking in my direction always killed me. I could barely look him in the eye when I shook his hand...come to find out he thought I was kinda stuck up! haha! I don't blame him as I barely gave him a smile and wouldn't let him shake my hand past .00995 seconds.

In April of 2009 we started talking.....(SMILE).....and it's pretty much history from there. We've been together ever since. We've had beautiful times, hard times, sad times, joyful times....through it all we've grown closer and closer and I can truly say I married my best friend.

{Engaged} Patrick blindfolded me during work one day and took me to my house where he sat me on the couch we had our first real connecting conversation, where he first kissed me, where he first told me he loved me, and where he first told me he knew I was his future wife. That day on that same couch he asked me to be his wife as I was surrounded by tons of rose petals, beautiful roses, and of course Dom Perignon champagne and it was perfect and sweet and one of the best moments of my life. When he asked me I couldn't even cry if I wanted to, I just laughed and giggled with the most joy I've ever had and it was perfect.

Patrick, you are the best husband and friend I could ever ask for. You not only love me for who I am but you constantly help me to grow and become a better person. I'm so thankful that the Lord gave us each other and that I get to look forward to the rest of my life with you. Thank you for loving me.

XOXO

Jaime

P.S. We will be renewing our vows in Hawaii this coming spring and will be having our real wedding ceremony.....there will be pictures....oh there will be! :)

AND a big fat THANK YOU to Jake @ Five Foot Fotos for taking some pictures of our fun day!
